WHEATLEY WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

Wheatley W.I. was founded over 50 years ago.

It has always maintained a sizable membership; at present we have about 40 ladies who all take an active part one way or another. We have several valued members from other villages especially Sturton, Leverton, and Hayton, also some from Bawtry and Doncaster!

We meet on the second Monday of each month when we usually have a speaker to address us. Topics are many and varied, covering many different subjects from travel talks to photography to Anne Boleyn in person!

We organise outings through the year e.g. theatre visits and historic houses. Of course many of our functions include wonderful food e. g The Senior Citizen’s tea and sometimes a Harvest Supper and then a Christmas lunch at a local hostelry.

Our President at the moment is Mrs. Judith Goacher of North Wheatley; Mrs. Sue Bartle is our Secretary and our long-standing Treasurer is Mrs. June Wright. These ladies ably supported by a very active Committee run the proceedings.

We are a very happy bunch of ladies, always delighted to welcome new additions to our number so those of you who are not of our number—consider treating yourself to a Monday night out in your own area—you will be surprised how much fun and laughter we share!

July 2010 -Members are sad to learn of the passing of Sandra Grice who was an extremely valued member of the W.I. and will be greatly missed by all.
