WHEATLEY WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

Wheatley W.I. was founded over 50 years ago.

It has always maintained a sizable membership; at present we have about 40 ladies who all take an active part one way or another. We have several valued members from other villages especially Sturton, Leverton, and Hayton, also some from Bawtry and Doncaster!

We meet on the second Monday of each month when we usually have a speaker to address us. Topics are many and varied, covering many different subjects from travel talks to photography to Anne Boleyn in person!

We organise outings through the year e.g. theatre visits and historic houses. Of course many of our functions include wonderful food e. g The Senior Citizen’s tea and sometimes a Harvest Supper and then a Christmas lunch at a local hostelry.

Our President at the moment is Mrs. Sandra Grice from Hayton; Mrs. Leah Willcox is our Secretary and our long-standing Treasurer is Mrs. June Wright. These ladies ably supported by a very active Committee run the proceedings.

We meet again on Sept.8th when our Speaker’s talk is entitled “New light on Edward and Mrs. Simpson!”

We are a very happy bunch of ladies, always delighted to welcome new additions to our number so those of you who are not of our number—consider treating yourself to a Monday night out in your own area—you will be surprised how much fun and laughter we share!

"Mrs Shakespeare" calls in

Popular speaker Lesley Smith returned to us again in July to
give a fascinating talk on Mrs Shakepeare. Dressed the part she once
again enthralled the large audience in the role.

Off to a Tea

WI committee members stand by to serve teas to 73 Wheatley
Pensioners at their annual treat!

Remember, WI meetings for the current season are listed on the "Calendar" page of this website
