Cloggers out in force

After weeks of cold weather the Clays Cloggers were out in force for the first outing of 2010.
24 walkers made the six-mile circular tour of Langold Country park in bright sunshine and
very sticky mud.

Annual Covenant Lunch helps the Haitian Victims as well

The annual fund-raising Covenant Lunch was held in the Methodist Chapel on Sunday 24th January
where guests enjoyed a sumptuous three-course lunch. As well as £209 being raised for
Churches Together in Wheatley a further £154.50 was raised to help victims of the Haitian
earthquake, this being increased by a further £17.35 from a collection box placed in Wheatley Post Office.
Thanks to all who supported this event and were so generous.

First Snow of Winter

Whilst the rest of us battle with virtually impassable roads.

Sir David de Vere Tasker V11; his partner Lady Pauline de Cuisine; Friar Andrew de Walster;
Sister Adela Walster; Sir Thomas Crowther the Earl of Doncaster and Lady Christine de Bentley".

a posh new sign outside.

Clays Cloggers, The Walking, Floating, Walking Picnic

In another very happy experiment, a party of 27 Cloggers and guests joined the narrow boat Seth Ellis at Hop Pole Quay to float or alternately walk to Hayton Wharf, have a (very) long pub meal or picnic, and then alternately return. Sedate and gracious sailing, leisurely walking alongside, helping with locks, and viewing the Canal from the boat all made a very good excursion, especially for those who cannot walk distances. Some who could, walked in both directions, and those who took part are now looking forward to a similar trip next year.
