Notts. County Council have announced plans to save money by dimming or switching off street lights throughout the county. This will take place shortly, and in the case of Wheatley there will be only 5 street lights on between the hours of midnight and 5.30am. They will be at strategic spots, but most roads will be in complete darkness.

See picture of Top Street after dark (left).

On Sunday  29th January 44 guests enjoyed a sumptuous lunch at Wheatley Chapel on the occasion of the Annual Covenant Lunch. A 4 course meal of soups, roast beef etc., etc with a choice of sweets.

An excellent way of celebrating this special day.

Thanks to Hilary Bennett and her helpers.

Lot’s of interest from Wheatley residents at the drop-in meeting (organised by Wheatley Energy Forum) to see more of EDF’s plans for a nine-turbine wind farm. Data and pictures supplied by the company shows the size and full extent of the proposed development. Residents were asked to express their objections to Bassetlaw planners within the deadlines.

This is a digital simulation supplied by EDF to show the size and scale of the proposed wind turbines around Maumhill Wood. Plans for this are to be considered by Bassetlaw’s planners and council later this year. Considerable public concerns were expressed about this scheme at the meeting below.
As of Saturday 11th February there are 140 objections listed on Bassetlaw’s planning website with two in favour. WEF suggests that we need as many as possible.
