The Council also sponsors and maintains a Contact Point within the village Post Office. Here, in a private dedicated room, users can have access to a computer connected to the Internet, with additional facilities to print out. This service can be hired at £1 per half hour period. Additionally there is a free service – “Teletalk” – in which users can contact Bassetlaw District Council in either the Retford or Worksop offices. This enables users to see and speak to District Council officers (by prior appointment), on many matters such as planning, pass applications, general enquiries etc. The option to submit photographs and sign documents is available. This service is specially intended for residents without computers or Internet connections, or who may be unable to visit the Council offices in person. The Post Office staff is usually on hand to give advice in using this facility. Intending users are advised to contact Wheatley Post Office beforehand.
